JR0226874 - Director, External Affairs

Intel's Global Government Affairs division carries out government engagement, advocacy, and lobbying efforts in every market where Intel does business. The organization is responsible for positioning Intel's business as a technology leader with and key partner with influential government audiences. Our core priorities include government relations, regulatory affairs, public policy, enabling business strategies to succeed and thought leadership.

As the Director, External Affairs, you will join a dynamic, global team and be able to immediately and directly enhance Intel's global external engagements. This position reports to the Global Government Affairs Chief of Staff and will play a critical role for our team by driving strategic engagements with global trade associations, think tanks, consortiums, and NGOs, as well as Washington, DC, based embassies.

This role will be responsible for building and strengthening relationships with external partners, with a primary focus on organizations outside of government. This person will be responsible for relationship management and building strategic partnerships that strengthen Intel's position as an industry leader. This role will help position Intel globally as a policy thought leader by enhancing our global narrative and driving strategic amplifications of our core policy objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage coordination and governance of trade associations and consultants worldwide.

  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external organizations, including think tanks and trade associations, related to Intel's business interests to help further position Intel as a thought leader.

  • In collaboration with policy team leads, develop strategic proposals to enhance external engagements to advance Intel's policy objectives and promote the visibility of Intel, including by identifying (or working with external organizations to create) platforms and opportunities to feature Intel policy thought leaders.

  • Track, share, and make recommendations regarding tech sector trends and activities that can inform innovation in models and best practices for a broad range of Intel initiatives.

  • Demonstrate creative thinking and bring new ideas and concepts to increase stakeholder engagements globally.

  • Work with DC-based Embassies and U.S. Embassies globally to educate on Intel's operations and develop regular communications around Intel achievements in-country.

  • Represent the organization externally at trade associations or think tank meetings to reinforce Intel's role within the technology industry.

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, government affairs or related field with a minimum of 10 years work experience OR a master's degree with 5 to 10 years work experience.

  • Experience working with government and third-party organization leaders in Washington, D.C.

  • Experience working at think tanks or in a trade association environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with and managing external relationships with third-party organizations, such as NGOs and industry consortiums, is highly desirable.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
