Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate Degree earned from a regionally accredited institution; Three (3) successful years of experience in full time post-secondary teaching or Part time post-secondary teaching equivalent to 90 semester hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate Degree earned from a regionally accredited institution; Three (3) successful years of experience in full time post-secondary teaching or Part time post-secondary teaching equivalent to 90 semester hours and Three (3) successful years of experience in academic administrative leadership or equivalent experience in combination with academic experience with grant writing, institutional advancement or teaching and learning.

General Function:

Provide leadership in the development, assessment, budget, and oversight for all academic affairs initiatives of the college in alignment with the established vision, mission, goals and culture of the institution. Provide high quality programs of study to the college’s student population.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, direction, and policy formation for the development and implementation of successful academic programs and services that are responsive to student, service area, and college needs. Ensure SACSCOC, TBR, MSCC, and THEC policy compliance within Academic Affairs to include SACSCOC reaffirmation, program accreditation and meeting the TBR Academic Accessibility mandate.
• Manage the operations of the Academic Affairs Division, as well as the operations of the campuses located in Fayetteville, McMinnville, Smyrna, Sparta, and Shelbyville. Oversee and monitor scheduling, course offerings, and program offerings implemented by the Deans. Ensure all Academic Policies are developed, updated and enforced as required by MSCC policy. Develop and implement the Academic Affairs Division budget.
• Provide recommendations, guidance and oversight for matters related to the recruitment, support, supervision, promotion, and tenure of an excellent and diverse faculty. Develops a strong professional relationship with the Faculty Council. Provide oversight of the Faculty Evaluation system.
• Ensure that all Academic Affairs Division reporting responsibilities are compiled, processed and submitted to TBR and accrediting agencies by established deadlines.
• Manage the Dual Enrollment Program
• Support the EVP AA in developing and maintaining articulation agreements and MOU’s with four-year colleges, school systems, and business and industry partners.
• Chair the Academic Affairs Committee and oversee curriculum development
• Develop and maintain relationships with area employers and educational partners
• Seek and support grants, overseeing the implementation of grants within the academic affairs division
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of higher education statutes, policies and practices
• Knowledge of confidentiality statutes and policies as they apply to students, faculty, and staff
• Knowledge and understanding of accreditation processes in higher education including SACSCOC
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
• Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation
• Ability to lead a large unit and foster teamwork among diverse units
• Ability to work collaboratively with other executives to carry out the mission of the college
• Ability to solicit external funding via grants, gifts, and partnerships
