Manufacturing Engineer

How will you make an impact?

Oversee manufacturing processes to assure the sub-assembly, instrument assembly, and test processes are running efficiently. Assure the manufacturing team has everything they need to produce quality products, on time, and at the lowest possible cost. Drive and participate in product and process related Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

What will you do?

  • Drive the development and implementation of the manufacturing assembly and test strategy of components, sub-assemblies, and end products
  • Develop manufacturing assembly and test work instructions, guides, and procedures
  • Represent manufacturing on NPI teams to develop the most efficient design using DFM, serviceability, and Lean methodologies
  • Drive the use of Lean methodologies and tools such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, poke-yoke, and value stream mapping
  • Drive cell design and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within the value stream
  • Drive improvements in assembly and test processes to reduce scrap and rework
  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, and equipment has adequate documentation including verification procedures, functional specifications, system documentation, user-guides, component/assembly drawings, bill of materials, and purchase specifications
  • Participate in supplier assessment and corrective actions as applicable to improve quality of incoming material
  • Participate in first article approval process for new parts, part revisions, and supplier changes
  • Quickly disposition and root cause component and assembly failures
  • Execute engineering change orders to accurately lead modifications to drawings, procedures, assemblies, and bills of materials
  • Other duties as assigned

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science or Electrical Engineering is preferred, or HS Diploma/ GED and equivalent experience and training can be considered.


  • 2-5 years of related experience (manufacturing operations preferred)
  • Experience with good engineering practices including documentation, process improvement, macros/automation, change control, product structure, and bills of materials

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Statistical knowledge including SPC and DOE
  • Experience in the use of process improvement and Lean methodologies such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, poke-yoke, and value stream mapping
  • Project management experience
