Become a key member of the Bids & Contracts team, part of the Life Sciences Legal team, providing a wide range of legal support for the North America life sciences sales and commercial teams.

A day in the Life:

In this full remote role, the candidate will collaborate closely with sales and commercial teams, plus engage finance, business and divisional legal counsel, risk management and other decision-makers, to lead bid proposals and contracting process for national and local government accounts in North America.

  • Supports sales opportunities of varying complexity via public solicitation or direct procurement.
  • Collaborates with sales representatives to understand their objectives and produce accurate and timely proposals in response to external customers’ requests for proposals and contracts; communicates closely with internal subject matter experts to ensure adherence to company policies and processes to meet critical timelines.
  • Performs varying levels of project management, with a focus on details and risk mitigation, directing the bid or contract workflow process from initial receipt to final submission, including reviewing proposals, conducting due diligence reviews and staging bid submissions or contracts for final submission.
  • Drafts and negotiates sales agreements for life sciences products and/or services.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to sales representatives and commercial leadership; provides risk assessment, interpretation of contractual obligations, and advice regarding terms and conditions.
  • Drives the negotiation process, both internally and with the customer, to get to mutually acceptable contractual terms and conditions, while maintaining accountability for the outcome of negotiations from customer acceptance of the proposal to the final contract’s execution.

Keys to Success:
Education

  • Degree or certification in business, contracts or legal specialization (or equivalent work experience in life sciences)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable experience in legal drafting and negotiations as a bids/proposal specialist, contracts specialist or legal role would beneficial and preferred.
  • Knowledge of research/diagnostic/medical products and life sciences preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in compiling and analyzing sales, commercial and legal information.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage and perform on multiple bids and contracts at the same time.
  • Familiarity and comfort with complex contract language; understanding of the business implications of various contract terms.
  • Shows good judgment in balancing business and commercial needs and potential risks/exposures with customer requirements.
  • Recognizes when to advance issues and concerns on bids and contracts to divisional leaders, executive leadership or other decision-makers.
  • Successfully performs duties independently with minimal instruction given on new projects or assignments.
  • Displays ability to remain focused on meeting completion timelines work while under pressure, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibits strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
