Position 100% Onsite in Pensacola, FL

Position Overview

Product Engineer is responsible for executing Media Product Engineering projects and activities within Pall Life Sciences, Media manufacturing plants under the guidance and direction of the Product Engineering Director or senior level Product Engineers. This position supports manufacturing and quality operations by driving significant technical changes to media products and manufacturing processes utilizing structured change control methodologies. These changes include, but are not limited to, transfer of new products/processes into manufacturing, transfer of existing products/processes between manufacturing sites, qualification of changes in raw materials, and major changes in product or manufacturing process designs. Additionally, this position supports the manufacturing operations in investigating significant manufacturing issues to identify root cause and implement effective corrective actions using structured problem-solving techniques and sound statistical methods with the end result of improving consistency and predictability product quality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and manage Product Engineering assignments that involve product design, process development, material testing, material changes, continuous improvement, and product/process validation to support the companys quality, supply, and growth business objectives for existing and new media products
  • Manage or support projects to resolve critical customer and manufacturing problems utilizing proven, data driven, structured problem-solving tools, such as: The, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC) process; Quality Function Deployment (QFD); PSP or others
  • Work with internal customers, and product development to understand the critical to quality characteristics of existing and new media products and relate these to the critical process parameters to ensure the process is specified in a robust manner.
  • Partner with R&D and manufacturing in new product qualification and turnover

Minimum Qualifications

  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes as typically acquired by completion of a Bachelor of Science in engineering, chemistry, polymer science, or other technically equivalent field, and 1~5 years of experience. Experience in process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and/or product development is preferred
  • Desire and ability to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing of high quality web based polymeric materials. Strong trouble shooting and process improvement skills. Project management skills; the ability to effectively manage multiple projects; and the ability to manage change in a cGMP environment
  • Expectation to develop and possess strong analytical, statistical, and systematic problem solving skills (Six Sigma certification preferred, or willingness to achieve certification); ability to execute Design of Experiments (DOEs), utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Ishikawa Diagrams, optimization, and other systematic tools
  • Proficiency in use of the latest versions of the following software packages or equivalent: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (required), Quality Analyst and/or Minitab (preferred); Microsoft Project (preferred); Microsoft Industrial SQL (optional); Wonderware Factory Suite (optional); AutoDesk AutoCAD LT (optional)
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in oral and written forms at any level within the organization, and interact effectively with customers and external business professionals.
  • Program/project management and team building skills. With guidance from manager or senior Product Engineering staff, must be able to drive business relevant projects and ensure a positive impact for customers
  • General knowledge and ability to apply standards and codes published by such authorities as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and to remain flexible and adaptable to changing business needs
