Interested in joining us on our journey? GE Appliances is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to join our Metal Stamping Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team. This team owns and continuously evolves the engineering standards for metal stamping tooling and equipment across the enterprise. In this role, you will play a key part in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and ongoing product line initiatives—driving cost reduction, productivity, and safe, efficient manufacturing operations. This is a high-impact opportunity to work at the intersection of product design, tooling development, and factory execution in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.<h2></h2><h2>Position</h2>Senior Tooling Engineer<h2></h2><h2>Location</h2>USA, Louisville, KY<h2>How You'll Create Possibilities</h2><ul><li>Partner with part design engineers and Die Engineering to develop robust Die Operational Lineups (DOLs) that meet both product and operational requirements.</li><li>Lead and facilitate the Production Preparation Process (3P) to design and implement tooling, equipment, and processes aligned to the full value stream.</li><li>Ensure tooling and equipment designs support right-sized equipment, ergonomic workstation design, optimized material presentation, standard work, and single-piece flow.</li><li>Ensure all tooling and equipment meet industry and governmental Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards.</li><li>Apply Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to prioritize operator safety and usability in all designs.</li><li>Collaborate with functional leaders to align tooling and processes with Bill of Process (BoP), Lean Manufacturing, Ergonomic Design, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.</li><li>Work closely with factory operations and Lean teams to understand value streams and ensure tooling designs support material flow, workstation layout, model mix, and productivity goals.</li><li>Apply the 9-Step Process for tooling and equipment design, engaging Critical Process leaders to ensure robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.</li><li>Develop Manufacturing Control Plans (MCPs) and Manufacturing Control Instructions (MCIs) in collaboration with cross-functional teams.</li><li>Influence product designs by ensuring Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) principles are incorporated early.</li><li>Contribute technical expertise and lessons learned to strengthen the metal stamping and AME knowledge base and drive continuous improvement across the organization.</li></ul><h2>What You'll Bring to Our Team</h2>Minimum Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline</li><li>5+ years’ experience with tooling procurement & sheet metal die design concepts, die components and applications</li><li>Familiarity in 3D CAD (ProE, Solidworks, Creo or equivalent) required</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Working knowledge of simulation software (Auto Form or equivalent) and relevant input parameters</li><li>Experience with implementing Lean process improvement in a manufacturing operation</li><li>Prior NPI program experience</li></ul>Working Environment:<ul><li>Working environment is both an office and manufacturing environment</li><li>Hours & Weekends: Working off-shift and weekends will be required </li></ul>Travel<ul><li>20% travel may be required during peak project times for domestic and/or international travel to supplier sites/ plants, etc</li></ul><h2>Our Culture</h2>Our work is centered on our People and Culture as reflected in our Zero Distance philosophy and we recognize the importance of reaffirming our commitment to inclusion and diversity (I&D).
